ClassDojo is a free tool for classroom management. Each student gets their own profile which allows them to create their own avatar. This makes it fun for the students because they can use their creativity. The teacher can assign positive and negative dojos (points) throughout the lesson. The teacher is the only one who can operate the program. It is controlled by his or her computer or tablet. Each time a point is awarded or taken away a sound can be played to alert the class. The information is stored on the student’s profiles so it can be reviewed throughout the year. The parents can also have their own login so they are able to see how their student is doing from home.
ClassDojo has a great effect on the students. They are able to recognize the sound played, and show an increased amount of effort to gain points. It is really engaging for the students because they are able to create their own profile, and are able to compete to be the leader in points in the class. It encourages students to participate in class and behave correctly. The program also allows the teacher to send announcements to the parents and students.
It is also effective because it keeps parents up-to-date on their child’s progress. Although today grades are posted online, it does not give the parents an idea of how their student is acting. By using ClassDojo the parents can see what the student lost or gained points for during the day. It allows the teacher to send private message parents as well which help keeps them up-to-date. It also breaks the ice before a conference by allowing the parent to know a head of time how their child is acting. By using this program it allows for more time teaching and less time on behavior problems. Just one click and the students are focused again because they do not want to lose all their points. The teacher just has to have the website going in the front of the class on an iPad or computer throughout the day and take points away as needed instead of having to stop the whole lesson to correct a behavior problem.
Many teachers have nothing but positive things to say about this program. They love being able to communicate with parents easily. They also love how engaging it is for the students. There is a new feature which is the Random Feature. The teacher clicks and it randomly picks a student to answer a question. This allows the teacher to avoid students getting upset because they have not been picked, or because they have been picked too much.
The downside is it can take a while to set up the program especially if you want to use it in more than one class. Also, because it can be downloaded as an app it can crash just like any other app which would take up class time to reload it. Some teachers also worry about the upsetting effect on a student in the class who has a hard time behaving and contently has to hear the sound of losing a point might upset that student.

3) Possible uses in the classroom including grade level relevancy, evaluation of the ease and probability of use
ClassDojo is great for classroom management. It is great for younger grades I think. It is easy to use and is managed by the teacher. The students and parents have access to the students' account. This allows parents to keep an eye on how their student is doing throughout the day behavior wise. The teacher can use this to control his or her students and randomly pick students to answer questions. This website is very engaging for students because they are able to create their own profile and avatar. I think this would be great to use in a classroom because of the simple fact that it is engaging for students, connect with parents, and helps with classroom management,
4) Possible uses with diverse learners
This website has may uses which can benefit all learners. For example, it is good for visual learners because they can see how they are doing. It is good for auditory learners because they are able to hear the sounds when someone loses point as well.
